This is a unit that has four days worth of review cards to use on a bulletin board, within a center, or simply for review of adding fractions. This unit helps students understand that they will need to change the denominator in order to have like denominators in both fractions. There are also two worksheets to check for individual understanding (both have answer keys). The worksheets are differentiated so that one already has like denominators, whereas the other requires the students to change them prior to adding.
The cards can also be used in a variety of ways to allow for differentiation. Ex. Start with the like denominator cards for students who need that step done; give the students the question cards, but not the process or answer cards (they would have to complete these steps on their own). If you like this product, check out all the other weekly units already posted (Sept.-Dec.) and ones that will be posted in the near future (Jan.-May). Thanks for shopping!
Copy all cards on card stock (or on paper and laminate). Have all the cards out for one day (all one color). Students need to match the problems to their equivalent fractions with the same denominator. Then to the answer penguin card.
* Remove the middle step card and have students complete that step on their own, then find the correct answer penguin card.
* Use only the first card of each set and have students come up with both the middle step and the answer.
