This is a great motivational activator for your students, since fractions are so energy-consuming! Ask them who in your classroom likes to cook (all raised their hands in my room) and tell them that you do as well, but that you need help tweaking a muffin recipe. The problem with the recipe is that there is too much liquid (which the students will find out when they add up the amounts) because more than 2 cups in a recipe makes the muffins soggy. Explain that you need the students' help figuring out if there is too much liquid. Recipe sheet and visual model of the liquid amounts is included.
