PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

One strategy that is taught to first grade students when adding two digit and one digit numbers is using rods and ten frames. This resource has an example and 14 problems for students to apply the strategy. To add the numbers students must first draw the starting number using rods and the ten frame. Then students will add the second number to their ten frame and 'make ten' to get the answer. This strategy and method are used when teaching 1.NBT.C.4 . Each problem has a tens/ones chart and two ten frames available to work with. Teachers can also use this resource to model the strategy. Enjoy!
