This performance task focuses on CCSS5.NBT.B.7 and the below learning targets:
-I can use concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value to add and subtract decimals to the hundredths.
-I can explain the strategy I used to solve the problem.
-I can model with mathematics.
Students will need to write an addition or subtraction word problem using decimals and show two strategies (hundred grids, standard algorithm, and/or partial-sums) along with providing written explanation on how they solved their problem. A student sample is also included in the performance task.
