To help students understand fraction operations by representing problems with pictorial models. Students are not yet expected to reduce fractional answers to lowest terms in this key, although that could be required later.

Teacher Preparation:
Worksheet
Whole Group: Print the student sheet on regular paper
Math Center: Print the student sheet on cardstock and laminate.
Print the student response sheet front to back on regular paper.
Print the teacher key in color front to back on regular paper.
Print the task cards in color on white cardstock and laminate, cut and bag.

Directions:
Student will partition the pictorial models to represent the fraction problems and then solve the problems.

4.3E represent and solve addition and subtraction of fractions with equal denominators using…pictorial models
4.NF.3d Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole and having like denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.
