PRODUCT DESCRIPTION


Goal:
These worksheets build the relationship between fraction addition and subtractions models and standard algorithms. Use it guide students to automaticity of the fraction addition and subtraction algorithm. These problems do not require regrouping, borrowing or reducing.
This activity contains a double-sided addition worksheet, a double-sided subtraction worksheets, keys for both, and blank double-sided worksheets to use with any problems.

Teacher Preparation:
Print the student pages on regular white paper.
Print the teacher pages in color on regular white paper.

Directions:
Students will model both fractions, use ratio tables to find the LCM, break up the models into equal parts, and then use the standard algorithm with the “Giant One” to find equivalent fractions.
