This product was previously the Game of Life, due to copyright reasons, the game has been recreated into an original called the Game of High or Low!
If your students are anything like mine, they HATE math but love playing games!
Using a tracking sheet, and powerpoint slide print outs, turn your room into the Game of High or Low by giving students careers and event tickets, behavior fines and bills, and the opportunity to buy items from the Toy Store (electronics, dirt bikes, toys etc.) or buy experiences (African Safari, Arcade day with friends etc.).
Students start off with $30,000 and then are guided to these 5 different categories: Careers, Gameshow, High or Low, Toy Store + Experiences. Throughout the buying process students have the opportunity to receive event tickets for good behavior. However, there are also behavior bills that can be handed out.
Working at a title 1 school, students were ecstatic to choose fun play items the dirt bike and go on great experiences like the African Safari. I did this activity on Monday and on Friday I was still getting asked if we could play again. (They literally had no idea this was the math lesson for the day)
Aligned with math standards, students are adding and subtracting multi digit numbers through the hundred thousands place. By given a tracking sheet, students are to track their deposits, withdrawals and new totals made throughout game.
It truly is a fun way to have your students add and subtract all while giving them a real world twist!
I hope you enjoy!
