This is a poster with an acronym we used at our school to help our students remember to add support and elaboration to their body paragraphs.
It stands for Facts, Elaboration, Examples, Details, Cause-Effect, Testimonies, and Statistics.
The analogy is that if you "FEED" your "CAT" he will get bigger and stronger. And if you use FEEDCATS in your body paragraphs, they will get bigger and stronger and more powerful.
I also put these letters on cubes of dice. When a student said they couldn't think of anything else to write, I'd make them role the dice. If it landed on T (testimonial), I'd ask if they'd used a quote yet. Most of the time, they'd say no, then would immediately be inspired with more to add.
This worked great! And we posted these posters ALL over our school and had the whole school using this term!
The reason I've saved it on a PowerPoint slide is because at our school to print large scale posters, they had to be designed in PPT... but if your school doesn't have this capability, you can just take the file to Kinkos and have it printed at a reasonable price!
