Lesson Description:In this lesson students build upon a basic understanding of value and light source by learning about the 5 necessary values to create form from shape:- Highlights- Reflected light- Mid-tones- Core Shadow- Cast Shadow presented through various PowerPoint slides and video demonstrations.
Students demonstrate their understanding through a printable practice worksheet and a final art project.During the final project students are challenged to examine a portion of skeleton or bone and add value to the irregular shapes within the reference image they choose to examine. The lesson includes variations that utilize either charcoal and chalk and or colored pencil on news print or cardboard. (see included student examples)
