Need an engaging way for your students to practice adding and subtracting fractions? This is exactly what you need.
This activity is meant to take an entire math period. It requires some prep, but it is completely up to you how much you want to put into it.
The premise of the activity all of the technology at your school was stolen and it housed secret government information. It is the job of the students to use their knowledge of adding and subtracting fractions to crack the code and get 4 clues to help them decide who did it. The clues all lead to the principal. I have 2 options, one tailored for a boy principal, and the other is made for a girl principal.
This activity is differentiated to meet the need of your learners. I have made 3 different options of all of the problem sheets, above (square), on (triangle), and below (circle). Each page is marked with a shape to help keep it all organized.
There are also editable name tag so you can give each student a personalized badge.
Also, there is a editable tracking sheet for you to keep track of your class' progress. Included is a welcome letter that explains the situation, and you can add your name as the agent to make it more personal for your class. That is also the case with the two ending letters.
The final things included in this product are file folder cover sheet (explained how to assemble in the product), and a teacher checklist to make sure you complete everything for an amazingly successful activity!
