My goal is to try and show my students how what they are learning can be used in the real world. What better way to do so than with food!
Students will bring in a snack that has already been measured. Preferably not whole cups. They will answer questions before preparing the trail mix which will require addition and subtraction skills with fractions.
One by one, students will come up and pour their snack into a giant bowl and stir. Students will announce how much they poured in and their classmates will record the information to keep track of how much trail mix is in the bowl.
