Valentines Day themed fraction hearts. This is aligned with CCSS 5.NF.1. Attached is an information page for your students with the rules for adding and subtracting fractions, vocabulary and the "I Can" statements. This page can be used in a graphic organizer or as an information sheet in their homework folders. There are 5 pages of questions (20 in total) along with the answers. The hearts can be used as worksheets, can be cut out and put in math rotations or can be used as an exit slip. Happy Teaching!

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
