Description
In this activity students will be reading a table that represents a bank ledger. This also helps with the introduction to the financial literacy aspect of the 6th grade math TEKS.
From the ledger students will be asked to determine the total amount in Mickey's bank account, adding integers. Followed by ordering a set of rational numbers, determining median, mode, range, and mean. Then using the bank ledger as a data set, and creating a box plot; followed by finding the interquartile range and percent of data questions. Students are also expected to write expressions and solve their expressions, by identifying key words within word problems that represent positive, negative, add, and subtract.
TEKS covered in this activity:
6.2D (Readiness)
6.3D (Readiness)
6.7B (Supporting)
6.12A (Readiness)
6.12C (Readiness)
