This is a graphic organizer that allows students to show their work when using manipulatives (like counters) to add and subtract integers. It has a space for students to draw a picture showing how they used the manipulatives to solve each problem. At the end of the worksheet, students are asked to write rules that we can use to add and subtract integers.
Students need 10-15 counters of each type to do the problems on the worksheet. Counters can be bought, personally I made mine using tile spacers. The whole tile spacers form a plus shape and count for +1, and I cut two of the ends off the tile spacers to make minus signs that count for -1.
