Thank you for your purchase of the Adding and Subtracting One and Ten Chart. Developing mental math skills in children and helping them understand the patterns found in math is a stepping stone to faster, more accurate problem solving. It is my desire that these scaffolded sheets will help your students grasp the concepts of adding and subtracting tens and ones from any given number through successful repetition.
In this set of sheets I have included 99 and 100 reference charts in color and black and white for your students to use if needed. There is also a blank chart that you may opt to have students complete.
The activity sheets themselves are designed to develop independence. The first page shows an example with three guided charts. The second page has five guided charts. The third page has one guide with 4 blank charts, and the final page has 5 blank charts. I used one chart per day and it was sufficient, once instruction had been given, to develop the mental math skills and pattern recognition that I was aiming for students to develop. Students enjoyed successfully completing a chart a day and as part of my morning routine, it gave them something to do the moment they unpacked for the day. All that was required of me was to put the day’s number on the board. There are also two large versions (one guided, one blank) to use as needed.
