I created these addition cards to help me differentiate instruction and practice in my Grade 1 & 2 classroom. They are intended to help target different addition strategies and address students at their skill level.
These addition cards can be used in a number of ways:
1. scoot activities
2. math center activities
3. small group instruction
These cards focus on the following addition skills: finding the missing number, flip the number, doubles and near doubles, making 10, making 10 and counting on, adding larger numbers using counting on, and adding on by 10’s.
I recommend printing the cards on cardstock and laminating them for durability and so that you can write on them with wipe-off marker when working with students.
This pack contains:
*8 sets of 24 addition task cards
*1 sets of 12 addition word problem task cards
*recording sheets for 12 or 24 addition cards (use ½ set or whole set of cards or even split the sets in two for students to use individually)
*follow-up activity sheet for each set of addition cards
*follow-up activity – pick a problem and model how you solved it
*write your own addition word problem cards
*8 addition word problems (some open and some that include numbers) that can be used in group or small group lessons or for individual students
