Description

In this resource you will find the following:

•solve the addition problem using an algorithm (no renaming)
cards 1-16 (gradually getting harder with more digits)

•solve the addition problem using an algorithm (with renaming)

cards 17-32 (gradually getting harder with more digits and more renaming)

•solve the addition problem with 3 numbers in an algorithm (with renaming)

cards 33-36 (gradually getting harder with more digits and more renaming)

These task cards are linked with the following curriculum points:

Australian Curriculum – Level 3

•Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction (ACMNA054)

•Recall addition facts for single-digit numbers and related subtraction facts to develop increasingly efficient mental strategies for computation (ACMNA055)

Australian Curriculum – Level 4

•Develop efficient mental and written strategies and use appropriate digital technologies for multiplication and for division where there is no remainder (ACMNA076)

Victorian Curriculum – Level 3

•Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction (VCMNA132)

•Recall addition facts for single-digit numbers and related subtraction facts to develop increasingly efficient mental strategies for computation (VCMNA133)

Victorian Curriculum – Level 4

•Develop efficient mental and written strategies and use appropriate digital technologies for multiplication and for division where there is no remainder (VCMNA156)

NSW Syllabus– Stage 2

These were great for my independent students! It was easy to see where the questions get more complicated. My grade 4s really struggle with anything addition that involves a zero, so it was great to see problems that give my students practice at this! Thanks

Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
