27 Poke Cards. This purchase comes with a complete full-color
set and black and white
set of cards.
Addition estimating poke cards are motivating and fun. Students solve the estimation addition problems and then check their own answers to get instant feedback about whether they were correct or incorrect.
These poke cards are engaging and can be used in many different ways. Students can use these poke cards in centers or as a whole-class SCOOT activity.
Numbers in this set range from 2-3 digit numbers with increasing difficulty on each page. I used rounding as a way to estimate, but occasionally also threw in a problem where they could change 13 to 15, to make it more like real-life estimation.

How to Use Poke Cards In Your Classroom:
♦ Before your students use these, cut each card out. You can choose to laminate the cards if you want to make them more durable.
♦ Hole punch each of the + signs. This is a great job for parent volunteers aides, or older students.
♦ With a permanent marker, on the back side of the card, circle the hole of the correct answer. You can also use the hole protector stickers.
♦ Decide which cards you want your students to use. These can be used in small groups or all together as a class as SCOOT activity.
♦ Give students a poker (could be their pencil tip, a cupcake pick, coffee stirrers, or pipe cleaners).
♦ Students solve the problem on the correct card, and stick their poker through that hole. This is a self-checking activity.
