Addition Fact Mental Strategy Anchor Wall Charts

This set of 9 addition fact mental strategy anchor wall charts (plus single page charts for a title heading, doubles facts, and make ten facts) is a wonderful way to provide visual cues for explicit strategy instruction for math facts to 20 in first and second grades. These classroom tested addition fact strategies and their cues provide the visual and verbal hooks that enable students to recall and apply them to addition facts. They may be used to provide effective support for the whole class or for intervention and resource groups. This set includes both color and black/ gray/ white options. In addition, small quarter page size mini-charts have been added. These may be hole punched and placed on rings to send home with individual students or to keep handy at school for easy reference. This newest 2018 edition has anchor charts for both Count Up and Count On so you can choose, as well as a single page chart with the Make Ten facts illustrated with ten frames. All of the basic addition facts to 20, except 7 + 4/ 4 + 7, are covered with this set of strategies. This resource correlates with my addition strategy worksheets and flashcards.

Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
    Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
