We want our students to know their addition facts fluently. Fluency is defined as a a balance between efficiency and accuracy. If students can do this, they free up valuable time, mental space, and energy to focus on other aspects of problem solving. However, don't ask students to just memorize these facts. Use these ten frame flashcards to help them visualize and internalize them. Within a ten frame, students are shown one addend in black, with the second addend appearing in gray. The total is represented by how many dots are present within the ten frame. This set includes all addition facts with a sum of 10 or less.
