Smarten Up's printable mental math UNO game is a great way to get kids to practice their two-digit addition facts. The game also includes five addition with regrouping "Wild Cards" to have students challenge themselves to regroup mentally in order to change the color in their favor! The rules are exactly the same as Uno, and kids love the fast-paced, engaging opportunity for practice. It sure beats worksheets!
-Begin by dealing 7 cards to each player. Place the rest of the card face-down to form the DRAW pile.
-Turn over the top card of the DRAW pile to begin a DISCARD pile.
-The first player has to match the card in the DISCARD pile either by number or color. For example, if the card is a red 3, player must throw down a red card or any color 3 card. He or she must also read the word featured on the card face in order to complete their turn.
-If a player cannot match a card by color or number, he or she has the option to play a WILD CARD, in which case a new color can be chosen. If the player does not have a wild card, he or she must pick a card from the DRAW pile until a card can be played.
-The player to get rid of all of their card first wins.
-REVERSE: Changes the direction of play amongst the players.
-SKIP: The next player after the person who put this card down is skipped.
-DRAW 2: The next player after the person who put this card down must draw 2 cards from the DRAW pile.
