Product Description
Looking for a visual way to introduce the basic math facts? I attended a math workshop and the presenter told us that many kids do not have a good number concept. They are unable to automatically say numbers rolled on a dice or seen on a domino because they haven't learned the patterns to numbers. Instead of using fact flashcards, she suggested using the strips I created in this packet to teach addition and subtraction facts. Each strip has a number on the left side and then 2 sets of dots (blue and red) in a familiar pattern that add up to the sum given. The teacher covers the number and by looking at the dot patterns, the students say the sum. Once it's learned that way, the teacher covers one color set of dots and using the sum and the other set of dots, the children can say how many dots are hidden. This packet has cards made up from 0 to sums of 10 (14 pages of cards). They're also great to use during Number Talk.
