The properties of addition (commutative and identity properties) can be a little tricky for students to write and identify. It is especially easy for them to mix the two properties up. The activities in this set are designed to help your students practice identifying the properties of addition.
There are three different activities in this set. The Properties Sort provides students with a number of examples of the Commutative and Identity Properties. Students are asked to cut out the equations and sort them into the correct category.
The Identity Property activities ask the students to identify examples of the Identity Property and color the correct box. The other boxes (ones without the correct property) are colored another color to differentiate between the two.
The Commutative Property activities provide the student with several equations which are missing a factor. Students must identify the missing factor and glue it into the equation.
