This is a great review game before an addition test!
Students pretend they are pirates and solve 10 addition problems on their treasure hunt. Each problem is given in the form of a clue card that students must solve before receiving the next clue. Some clue cards have word problems and other have addition problems that are already written out in number sentence format.
This review game provides practice with adding two, three and four two-digit numbers and two three-digit numbers.
I had my students play in teams of four. The rules were that they must work together and show ALL their work before they could receive their next clue. They could only move on if each team member had the correct answer and correct work shown on their paper. This really encouraged working together to solve each problem. At the end, students earned some treasure (a prize from my prize box). I gave prizes to each team that finished the treasure hunt, regardless of if they finished first or last.
They LOVED this review game, and told me they wish we did stuff like this all the time! I hope your kiddos love it as much as mine!
Included is an answer key, 10 clue cards, and a recording sheet. Print the clue card question and the treasure chest back to back for extra festive cards!
