This game was inspired by my 1st grade son. It was the perfect activity to help him review addition and subtraction skills using story problems, visual models, and basic math facts. He loved playing this game with me, as well as his classmates.
I also made a copy of this for a friend who works with Kindergartners, 1st Graders, and 2nd graders. She gave it great reviews as well! My principal saw the poster size game board, and was full of compliments. Based on student, teacher, and administrator feedback, this game is a great catch!
This game can be used for review, while teaching addition and subtraction skills, in a center, for early finishers, and to reteach previously taught skills.
So whether you are looking for an end of the year activity with 1st graders, a beginning of the year game for 2nd graders, or a challenge activity with high achieving kindergartners, this is a great catch!
Have fun fishing with your kids on addition and subtraction skills!
