Looking for a way to get your kids interested in practicing their addition and subtraction skills? This activity can be used as a review before a test or as a center activity. Students search for Pokestops and solve problems as they find them. After students work the problem out, they record their answer on their recording sheet and scan the QR code to find the correct answer and a new Pokemon character. Students mark through each Pokemon character on the recording sheet until they are all found (15 in all). Students get super excited when they find their favorite (or their teacher's favorite) Pokemon character (mine is Jigglypuff).
How to implement:
1. Print each question card (I printed two on one page to save paper).
2. Print the Pokestops.
3. After you cut out the question cards and Pokestops, hide them around your
classroom, school, or playground.
4. Make sure you have a reliable QR Scanner on the devices you plan to use.
5. Discuss the importance of solving the problems BEFORE scanning the QR
-adding two or more multi-digit numbers with regrouping
-subtracting two multi-digit numbers with regrouping
-solving addition and subtraction word problems
-comparing and ordering numbers
-writing numbers in standard and expanded form
