Addition Grade 1 Unit is made up of 10 lessons, which will each take a day or two. The length of each lesson depends on how well the class grasps each concept. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson. Each lesson includes the materials needed, the procedure to follow, and an assessment. The assessment for each lesson is an activity, whether a worksheet or an art project. There is a mid-unit assessment, which allows the teacher to see what topics the students understand and what topics need to be reviewed more. At the end of the 10 lessons is a final assessment.
All 10 of these lessons take into account all types of learners, the visual learners, the kinesthetic learners, and the auditory learners. The lessons suggest using unifix cubes or counters to assist the students in the learning process. Each lesson includes demonstrations by the teacher so that the students see what is expected of them. The lessons include student participation.
