This set teaches the "Counting On" strategy for equations through 20. In my 21 years of teaching, I’ve learned to promote success through scaffolding instruction, differentiating to meet students’ needs, and giving children multiple opportunities to learn a skill. With all this in mind, I have included manipulatives, number lines, eight simple no-prep games, one student-generated game, a chant, and the following types of scaffolded worksheets:
1. Problems accompanied by illustrations for equations to 10, 15, and 20 (6 worksheets; horizontal and vertical equations).
2. Problems with spaces for illustrations for equations to 10, 15, and 20 (6 worksheets; horizontal and vertical equations).
3. Opportunities for children to practice explaining their thinking (4 worksheets).
4. Combination practice/fluency pages. (6 worksheets; horizontal and vertical equations).
This set can be used in isolation. It also logically follows my Commutative Property of Addition to 20 set, available HERE.
You may also be interested in my giant BUNDLE of 38 first grade songs and videos, available HERE. This set teaches ALL Common Core 1st grade standards. A song entitled "Add It On" correlates with this packet.
Finally, these are the related Common Core and TEKS standards:
