Description

With an increased emphasis on math word problems, it is useful for students to develop a familiarity with signal words and how questions are presented. This 6-page worksheet has a selection of addition word problems for practice (there are 17 problems spread over 5 pages, plus a 6th page which is the answer key). It uses the following progression, allowing struggling students to practice the lower level problems while more advanced students can continue through the worksheet and attempt more challenging problems:
➢ 2-digit word problems, 2 addends
➢ 2-digit word problems, 3 addends
➢ 3-digit word problems, 2 addends
➢ 3-digit word problems, 3 addends

Its focus is for second grade, when this type of addition is given a lot of attention, however 3rd graders still struggling may benefit as well.
