This "I Have... Who Has..?" activity is an engaging way to reinforce addition and subtraction skills 0 to 20. Preparation is easy! Print the cards and then cut them in half three times. You'll use less paper than you would making a single worksheet for each child and the students will have a lot more fun!

CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.C.6 Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10.
CCSS.Math.Content.2.OA.B.2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.2 By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Distribute the 21 cards among the students. The student with the "start" card reads his or her clue first, "I have 0, who has 6 more?" Students listen to see if the clue fits their card(s). The student who has the 6 card then reads his or her clue, "I have 6, who has 3 less?" The game continues in this manner until the "loop" is complete.
Included in this download are two sets of cards, each with its own sequential list of clues. Each set has been clearly labeled A or B, For ease of use, they can also be copied on two different colors of paper. Each set also includes three additional blank cards. These can be used to replace any cards that go missing, rather than running an entire new set.
* "I Have... Who Has..?" cards can be used with the whole class or small groups. Once cards have been played they can be turned over or laid face up in the correct sequence.
* One player can be given a copy of the list to monitor the game. He or she will check each clue and response to make sure that students accurately complete the loop.
* Once students become more proficient at this skill, consider using a stopwatch to time the game. Record the time and then encourage students to beat their own time.
