In this activity students will practice addition and subtraction fluency. Most of the problems require regrouping, which is great preparation for 4th grade.
The initial practices use a "Diamond strategy" that I created to help kids use estimation/ rounding to predict or check their work. This activity also works well when working toward front end estimation practice for multiplication (a 4th grade standard).
The activities also feature "board games" which challenge students to make sure they are checking their work. They take the number at "start" and complete the next box. For example, if start says "600" and the second box says "600-300" they would complete that subtraction problem, and use the answer, "300" for the next box. Think of it as a large mathematical chain reaction.
The final two pages feature "subtraction wheels." Students will look at the number in the center of the page and subtract using the surrounding numbers. After subtracting, they will round their number and color it based on a clunk or poof (cinderella rounding).
This page works really well as a follow up to my other resource, NB.T.3 Review
