*Addition and Subtraction Facts to 10*
These two sets address the skills of adding and subtracting within 10 and recognizing the commutative property of addition. To set it up, distribute the fish bowl cards around the room. Then, give each child some fact cards. Either have them use mental math to solve the problems as they search for the correct fish bowl, or have them write the answer on the card with a dry erase marker first. When the cards have all been sorted, check each one with the group. Discuss which cards have been placed correctly and why some numbers have more cards than others (the number 10 has the most facts, for example.) Have the students pair up the fact cards that use the associative property. As a follow up, two cut and paste worksheets have been included.
