Addition and Subtraction Games: A Math Station Resource

- PDF

Description
This set of five addition and subtraction activities are very “game-like” and engaging yet still require thinking, problem solving, and decision making. They address addition and subtraction with regrouping concepts in a variety of formats. Whether you teach the Common Core or not, these are critical computation skills that are essential to a strong math foundation.
Who needs this resource?
If you are like me, you realize that there are some times when teaching your entire class at once is just not the most effective way to reach all students. Because of that, I have gone to a more “workshop” approach and have been looking for quality resources and activities for my students to do in partners or trios to reinforce concepts I have taught.
The content of the activities is appropriate for students working at a 3rd through 4th grade level but are perfect for those second graders needing enrichment or older students needing more practice. Once directions are taught, students should be able to be extremely independent, freeing YOU up to work with other students. You will also notice that the activities have differentiated options—so your entire class can be playing the same game but at totally different levels!
What is included?
- Five high quality addition and subtraction activities with differentiation options
- Teacher directions
- Student friendly direction cards
- Reproducible game cards for each activity— all low ink!
- Recording sheets
- CCSS alignment page
No other materials are needed!
