Roll the dice and use just the right operations to reach the target number! Get a partner or small group and roll three dice. Using each number you roll only once, try to create the target number using addition or subtraction operations. You can use both operations or just a certain type-- whatever gets you to your target number.
You might not necessarily be able to reach the target on your first try-- but try to do so in fewer rolls than your partner(s)! Each “hole” has a certain number for par-- just like real golf, the lowest score wins! In other words... the fewer rolls you take to reach the target number, the more likely you are to win.
Example: You roll a 6, 3, and 2, with a target number of 1. The operation you need to use to reach the target number is: 6-3-2=1. Now you can move on to the second “hole”! For a bigger challenge, use more dice!
There are two game boards-- one for a 9 hole game, and one for an 18 hole game. You will need three dice per pair of students.
