History and How to Use:
The need for the students to have mats to work with to learn addition and subtract facts is important. I print these mats and laminate them to use with dry erase markers.
· To begin with we use manipulatives and write the numbers with dry erase markers.
· Then we draw pictures and write the numbers with dry erase markers.
· Finally, we use the mats to simply write numbers.
· Types of mats:
o Part Part whole Mats (some with the whole on top and some with the whole on the bottom)
o Number Bonds
o Tens Frame Mats
· Each type of mat also includes:
o Color Coded Option
o Addition Sentence
o Addition and Subtraction Section
o Blank equations for the student to fill out the addition or subtraction fact
