Explicitly teaching math strategies empowers students to solve problems fluently, but sometimes keeping track of the vocabulary and processes inhibits students from explaining their thinking or showing their work on paper.
These math strategy posters serve as anchors to help you teach each strategy and support student learning as they use the strategies independently. Although these were designed for printing, I highly suggest generating a similar anchor chart on chart paper with your students as you teach -- then use these as small reminders after your students are familiar with the strategy.
Each poster features the name of the strategy, a visual cue when relevant, an example, and some "Strategy Shark" lingo that's part math vocabulary, part teacher silliness. This pack also includes a mini-puppet you can attach to a popsicle stick. My kids loved it!
Currently, the packet includes a handful of printables designed to help students practice some of the strategies. As I develop this resource, I will update it to include additional printables as well as math stations or teaching materials for each strategy.
This packet includes:
15 Strategy Posters
1 craft stick Strategy Shark puppet
6 worksheets for student practice (I will add to this in the future).
