These Visual permutations are formulas that will help support students' concept of addition and subtraction. It works well as a precursor to them understanding the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction.

Some students were merely grasping for random numbers when subtracting, coming up with an answer that was more rather then fewer.
Teach the concept using the boxes as outlines. It's a good way to have the students understand the rules.
