Your learners will love talking about what the hungry caterpillar ate while they practice part-part-whole relationships, number bonds and writing equations.
For each page, ask your learners to identify the number that tells about all of the fruits and write that number the “whole”. Then, they may count the number of each kinds of fruit to identify the “parts” and write them “parts” of the number bond. Then, write the numbers in the equation.
Project the book on your smartboard for a group learning activity. Print in grayscale for student copies.
Subtraction book, without number bonds, available separately.
To Make Books:
Stack all pages. Cut on the horizontal lines and only on the right vertical line. Staple in the area between the left vertical and the paper edge. 2 books per set of pages.
You can also print and laminate the pages as center cards. Learners may use dry erase to complete the cards at your math center.
