Addition in Kindergarten

This unit is packed with lessons, centers, printables and lots of easy to make hands-on activities that focus on addition. Simply add simple math manipulatives such as dominoes (or materials from around your house including buttons and beads) and you will have ready to use addition activities.

Here's what's included:

- 2 weeks (10 days) of complete lesson plans including whole group and small group lessons

- "Addition Stories" -> math problems that focus on numbers 0-10, picture counters included to use on a 10-frame

- "Think About It" -> math questions that include picture cards

- "Mystery Pictures" -> count and color the pictures, add them and write the numbers

- "Domino Addition" -> domino cards for students to count and write in numbers, also included are dominoes (you can cut and make your own!)

- "Choose a Domino, Add It!" -> choose a domino, count the dots, record on worksheet

- "Add with a Number Line" -> using a number line (0-10 and 0-20 included) students move manipulatives according to card

- "Pom-Pom Addition" -> you can add egg cartons to make this more interactive, students build an addition sentence and show their work using manipulatives

- "Catch Those Fish" -> 10-frame fish (or numerals 0-10) included, students pick up 2 fish and add them

- "Animals on the Loose" -> use animal cards (included) or small plastic animals students solve addition questions

- "Roll and Move" -> roll +1/+2 dice, move that many space on the number line (0-10)

- "Number Bracelets" -> students form different ways to add to 5 or 10 using beads and pipe cleaner bracelets

- "Addition Mats" -> 2 mats included (2 step and 3 step), students choose an addition sentence and build it using manipulatives on the mat

- "Add It Up! Addition Booklet" -> cut/paste addition sentence in booklet and use Bingo daubers to show amounts

- "Adding with 5- and 10-frames" -> students form different ways to add to 5 or 10 using 5- and 10-frames
