This is a great packet of word problems for your first grader to work on addition within 20.
There are 10 problems, each on their own worksheet, and 1 additional template for you (or your students!) to create their own problems.
Each worksheet requires your student to write the equation and use two methods to solve the problem as well as the answer. Then, they must explain how their thinking.
Sample solution methods include: open number line, draw a picture, number bonds, keep one break one, etc.

Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
