This cross-curricular project was made to be used as a follow-up to the book "The Talking Cloth" by Rhonda Mitchell, but could also be used alone.
Included in the product:
~Smart Board file (12 pages long)- includes background information on adinkra cloth, examples of real cloths, and an interactive page in which students create their own cloth
~Detailed directions for the project (1 page)- gives information on how to complete both the art assignment and the writing portion
~Step-by-step checklist of directions (half a page)- breaks the directions down into shorter, easier to read steps; provides students a chance to check them off as they finish so they can track their progress
~Symbol "Dictionary" (2 pages)- contains pictures and meanings of a variety of traditional adinkra symbols; also has blank spaces for students to create their own meaningful symbols
~Publishing paper (1 page)- lined paper with a border of adinkra symbols
~Rubric (half page)- checklist style rubric includes points for writing assignment and art project
