Make your students better readers and writers with these 40 adjective task cards. Based on Marzano’s Six Steps to Vocabulary instruction, these task cards provide students with the dictionary definition of a word; students then write their own definition, use it in a sentence, and draw a picture. All you need to do is spend a few minutes discussing the meaning of the word with your students; this can be done in a variety of ways, so choose what works in your classroom. You may want to read a book that exemplifies the word (think Anansi books for the word mischievous). You could also write a few sentences that show the word in context. You could also use video clips that promote discussion of the word. Your students will enjoy learning these words while becoming better readers and writers.
