Adjectives are often times a fun topic to teach and more importantly a fun topic to learn. This product was created to help your students gain a full understanding of what Adjectives are and how Adjectives give specific details to a noun or pronoun. It is important that students understand that adjectives add colorful images and concepts to an otherwise less than interesting noun.
Your students will have fun learning about Adjectives while playing the game Tug-of-War. Students will select an adjective card and determine how many adjectives are in the sentence. By doing this, students will have to provide evidence of their understanding of Adjectives and explain how each adjective is being used in the sentence. These sentences will spark much discussions with your students about what words are adjectives, but more importantly why the words that they have selected are adjectives.
I have also created a Student/Parent Study Guide that can be used at home to enrich, practice, and or reteach the concept at home. An answer key has been provided for you for all 40 cards and students can record their answers on the Recording Sheet that is also provided to you. Students can use this in small groups, peer to peer competition, or whole group as a game of Scoot.
Also included is a Teacher Feedback form so that students can informally tell you how they feel about the concept and to identify their own strengths and weaknesses. Students can also tell you their personal areas of concern in which you can keep for assessment and documentation purposes.
This resource is intended for single classroom usage and additional licenses must be purchased for half-off of the original price to share with colleagues. If you find additional usages for this resource I would love to hear about your ideas. Thank you and I hope you enjoy.
Remember that this product is a PDF and can be used on a Smartboard or Promethean Board for instructional and demonstrative purposes.
