These activities focusing on adjectives will be a fabulous addition to your writing lessons and center. Included are 4 adjective and Fry noun list charts, writing paper, writing plus drawing paper, 4 half page adjective lists and an “I can” poster. All you need is some dice and pencils.
Directions: Students will roll the dice to select the corresponding adjective and then the noun. They will use the words in a sentence and write it on the provided paper. Students can write many sentences (on the full page of lines) or write and illustrate one sentence (on the writing paper that offers drawing space). Copy the pages back to back and do both. The “I can” poster provides some sentence prompts to help begin sentences.
Use this with your whole class or a small group to encourage the usage of adjectives. After students are independent in the task, the activity can be used as part of a writing center or work on writing activity. Students can then build their sentence into a story as an extension activity. Later, just provide the lists of adjectives and let the students get creative.
