A detailed, primary grade lesson that uses color-coded word cards as manipulatives to create “strong, descriptive sentences”. Especially appropriate for first grade, second grade.
Color-coded words to cut into cards are included. Can be used as a literacy center once lesson has been introduced, to reinforce concept.
Lesson includes objectives, APK, checks for understanding, higher order thinking questions, and differentiation. Color-coding and kinesthetic approach scaffold ELs and struggling students. Creativity implicit in lesson differentiates for GATE students. Use of realia during APK connects learning to past experience.
