This activity could be used as a teaching tool for 2.L.2 or as an assessment activity. Students will complete a book that compares baby animals to their parents. They will draw or paste pictures of the baby and adult then complete comparison sentences or write their own.
To create the book, cut each animal strip out. (For example, cut out the whole tadpole and frog page into one long sheet, not two separate sheets.) Leave space on the left to staple the pages together. Place the title page on top and staple!
Options for differentiation
• Use the pages with sentence starters or have students write their own.
• Cut and glue in pictures or have students research the animal to see what they look like, then draw the pictures.
• Have students draw the animals life cycle on the back of the page to assess standard 2.L.1
