The advanced 3D printing lessons builds upon the intermediate lesson pack. There are 5 lessons that make up this module. The lessons develop the knowledge and skills of students so they have an advanced knowledge in all things 3D printing.
Lesson 1 - This lesson focuses on the wider context of 3D printing in manufacturing and how it is changing the traditional supply chain of how products are made. Students will learn how major international companies have integrated 3D printing into the manufacturing process and the benefits that this brings to the manufacture and the consumer.
Lesson 2 - This lesson teaches students about sustainability and 3D printing. They will learn indepth understanding of how to design models with sustainability in mind and also how bio plastics compare to recycled plastics. This lesson also compares 3D printing to CNC milling and what factors need to be considered when deciding on the best manufacturing method to use.
Lesson 3 - Advanced 3D CAD skills. This lesson teaches students how to create challenging models using Fusion 360. They will learn how to create extruded patterns on curved surfaces and how to apply this skills to design a bike grip handle. This lesson will prepare students for the advanced design challenge in lesson 4. This lesson comes with video tutorials.
Lesson 4 - This lesson is a design challenge lesson where students will apply all the skills that they have learnt in the intermediate designing lessons and lesson 3 of the advanced lesson pack. There are four different design challenges that get progressively more difficult as students complete each one.
Lesson 5 - This lesson tests the knowledge of what students have learnt over the past 4 lessons. The test comes with answer sheets so students and teachers can review the test results through peer or self assessment.
