Based on the language of the AP English Literature and Composition Scoring Criteria, this rubric breaks "good writing" down into manageable chunks. Clear descriptors help students know their areas of strength and weaknesses. Five areas of writing include conventions, interpretation, analysis, textual evidence, and literary elements. It is based on a 10 point scale but can easily be edited to fit your needs.
This resource also gives explanations for the teacher to clarify what is meant by each part of the rubric. Examples and extended descriptions make sure that the use of the rubric is as consistent and cohesive as possible.
