An amusing educational video I made for my upper grade elementary students, which my wife has also used with her high school ENL students.
In it, Adventure Man conducts his "Adventures in Science" program as his mischievous producer plays pranks on him with water, wind, soil, etc.
The video uses humor and repetition to reinforce key aspects of an ecosystem. The relevant vocabulary words appear onscreen repeatedly, making it ideal for elementary students, English language learners, academically struggling students, etc.
My students LOVE this and frequently beg to see it again.
FOR LOWER GRADE STUDENTS: This version contains a zombie. Concerned that it might frighten some of my more sensitive lower grade students, I have another version without the zombie, for use with them -- which I will hopefully get to upload sometime in the near future.
There is also a "Main Idea & Details" worksheet included for use with the video, in which students record the different parts of an ecosystem shown in the video.
I think this is a tremendously effective way to teach multiple concepts together. It ties things together, repeats the vocabulary several times, and above all, kids love it. Using amusing video that really hooks them, is a fantastic way to support your teaching efforts.
