Product Description
Adverbs can be a tricky part of speech to understand. They perform a variety of tasks in a sentence; and sometimes, they look suspiciously like prepositions! In this Power Point lesson, I use active student engagement strategies to take students a bit beyond "adverbs describe verbs." Students take notes using a thinking map, share answers with table partners, hold up fingers to indicate practice answers, and write a very short story chock full of adverbs to deepen their understanding of this elusive part of speech. The lesson generally takes me a full 50 minute period when the assignment is included. - Rae Galeazzi
